Zonal Electric Training Center, Vadodara (ZETC/BRCY) was estabilshed as Electric Loco Training School in the year 1973. Initially used to cater training needs of the locopilots & asst. locopilots (running staff) of W.R. Subsequently, it was upgraded to Zonal Electric Training Center in the year 1988 to impart technical training to group 'C' & 'D' Staff of all the four disciplines of Electrical department viz. Electric Loco & MEMU Operation and Maintenance, Traction Supply Distribution and General Services inculding Air conditioning & Train Lighting.

ZETC/BRC has taken initiative to give online training to running and maintenance staff of electrical department of WR during lockdown period. With good coordination and support of divisions and great efforts of ZETC team. ZETC has achieved growth of 43 % in trainee days than the same period (Apr.-Jan.) of previous financial year (i.e. 96124 trainee days in 2020-21 against 66952 in 2019-20).

A pocket TSD of conventional and 3 phase locomotives has been prepared by ZETC. This will provide instant guidance to running staff during any abnormality on line. It will help in safe and time bound operation of train.TSD has been published and being distributed to running staff of all divisions of WR.

ZETC-BRC has prepared & published Second edition of “Adhar Pustika (WAG5)” for initial training of running Staff (LP/ALP) & “Equipment Layout in WAP4, WAG5 & WAG7 Conv. Locos”. It will be very helpful for running staff during the training of conversion and initial courses as well as hands- on training, troubleshooting on loco & also guidance for Loco Pilots/Asst. Loco Pilots.

An audio visual module has been developed for loco pilots. This module will help to maintain their health despite of Railway working which is against body clock of Loco Pilots.

• An audio visual module for Crew : In house Audio Visual (Video’s) developed for LPs & ALPs to avoid the SPAD and improve reliability of locos on following topics.
• Cab changing procedure,
• Call out of Signals,
• Hand brake operation & its isolation ,
• Working of Air Flow Indicator,
• Operation of ‘H’ type coupler
• How to avoid wheel skidding.

• An audio visual module for Maintenance Staff : In house audio visual (Videos) developed for maintenance staff of Electric Loco Shed to improve the reliability of 3 phase locomotive equipment for the maintenance & overhauling.

• 3 phase loco contactor (EPC).
• Parking brake unit (PBU) of 3 phase loco.
• Traction brake unit (TBU) of 3phase loco.
• Sensor testing test bench of 3 phase loco.
